Enfield Social Services department achieves balanced budget

"Public Sector Consultants has the individuals with the capacity to work with Directors, service providers and interface successfully with politicians in a Member led Council. Enfield’s position is a singular achievement for a London borough and indeed the majority of local authority social service providers" said Donald Graham, Director of Community and Social Services at Enfield LBC.

Julie Brown started work at Enfield London Borough Council in February 2003 as Head of Finance of a Social Services department which faced extreme financial pressure, with an overspend of almost £2.8m. With Julie's help, this position was reversed leading to a balanced budget. This in turn enabled elected Members to invest over £4m in social services in accordance with their strategic objectives as opposed to simply reacting to a critical situation. Budget crisis has been replaced by proper budgetary planning, monitoring and control.

"This highly significant achievement would not have been secured without the assistance of Public Sector Consultants whose representatives brought both financial rigour and also a deep knowledge of the subject area including detailed awareness of the various grant regimes" said Donald. He added "Public Sector Consultants' involvement was vital to this success".
