John Birch, formerly of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, has a vision to evolve a school of excellence for junior cricketers in the Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire areas. This is being established at the end of the 2010 season with extensive training taking place throughout the winter months primarily at the Trent Bridge indoor facility and Trent College outdoor floodlit complex. A series of matches throughout the 2011 season against teams of similar ability from around the Country are to be staged at Clifton Village Cricket Club. Public Sector Consultants will own the corporate rights to these games.
The start point for this major project was to bring together players seeking to be part of this fantastic opportunity in a demonstration day held at Pilsley Cricket Club. Public Sector Consultants were responsible for the financing of this prestigious event, and pictured along with the players are Stephen Prince Chief Executive of Public Sector Consultants (centre front row) and John himself (centre back row).
Although the weather on the day was not conducive to playing or indeed watching cricket those in attendance witnessed some thrilling and quality performances and if this is the shape of things to come it suggests a very exciting future venture.
