LGC Article 19 August 2010
Going around the country, it is impressive to see the resolve of local government directors of finance and senior staff as they confront the challenges prior to the comprehensive spending review. No LGC reader will be untouched by the consequences of the review.
It is clearly more essential than ever at this momentous time that all authorities have a qualified accountant, preferably trained by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy, sitting at the top management table when tough decisions are being made. I would like to hear CIPFA shouting loudly for every key council decision to have the benefit
of expert financial advice at the top level.
