Schools reach the standard

E-mail Print

FMSiSjpegsmallAs part of the value for money agenda, schools are required to demonstrate that their performance in financial management meets a detailed standard, which is evidence based and results from an independent external assessment. Public Sector Consultants recognised this requirement and in order to help schools, set up a dedicated group of experienced education consultants comprising David Elcock, Mike Harley, Shaer Halewood and David Siddall; all have been trained to deliver assessments. In 2008 the Company was recognised by the Department for Children, Schools and Families as an accredited provider of this service.

To date, we have successfully delivered external assessments in five primary schools in, Chorley, Colne, Leicester, Castle Donnington and Loughborough, achieving high satisfaction levels from these clients. We are also negotiating with two schools to provide consultancy support as they prepare for the formal assessment.

KidsOur approach recognises that meeting the ‘standard’ is more than an exercise in ‘ticking the box’. On the contrary, it is an opportunity for the school to critically examine its underlying culture and ensure that its policies, practices and procedures are fit for purpose and promote the achievement of value for money. Giles Storch, head teacher of Euxton Primary School in Chorley commented by saying “the consultant gave a thorough assessment, but also gave useful indicators, advice and ideas of how to raise standards and gain even better value. He helped give vision, not just assessment”
