Public Sector Consultants were proud sponsors at the Local Government Chronicle Awards at a prestigious ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on Monday 12 March 2007. The event is hailed as the National Awards for Local Government and recognises the dedication, sheer hard work and quality service delivery that the public sector provides every day.
The glittering event, attended by over 1,000 people, was hosted by Rory Bremner who wowed the audience with his biting satirical impressions and presided over the award presentations.
Public Sector Consultants sponsored the Finance Award which had 6 shortlisted authorities: Bassetlaw DC, North Warwickshire BC, Salford City Council, Slough BC, Stockton on Tees BC and Vale Royal BC.
The judges for the Award were Director Richard Harbord, Public Sector Consultants, Jaki Salibsury, Chief Executive of Mid Bedfordshire District Council and Richard Ennis, Executive Director for Finance and business support at Ealing LBC.
Richard presented the award to North Warwickshire BC. Chris Brewer, Director of Resources, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award. It’s fantastic for the Authority as a whole and is testimony to the hard work that our staff put in”.
The Council has been recognised consistently as having a commitment to excellence and is a top 5 benefits performer; they were shortlisted for the IRRV Benefits Team of the Year 2006 and had a council tax collection rate of 98.5% in 2005-2006 and 99.4% in business rates.
The Council of the Year was awarded jointly to 2 District Councils: High Peak DC and Wychavon DC. The Most Improved Council of the Year went to Rotherham MBC, who brought with them around 30 people to celebrate their success.
