lgc_awards_logo_2008Public Sector Consultants would like to congratulate all of the winners and entrants of the 2008 Local Government Chronicle Awards. The culmination of the year long programme was an impressive ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London. The night was hosted by comedian Rob Brydon on Monday 17 March 2008 and was attended by over 1,200 guests.

Karen Day, the newly installed editor of the Chronicle kicked things off followed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears MP.

This is the 3rd year that Public Sector Consultants has sponsored the Finance Award and we recently announced our ongoing support for the event by signing a 5 year sponsorship deal with the magazine.

The event is a major highlight in the Local Government calendar and recognises the dedication, sheer hard work and quality service delivery that the public sector provides every day.

In the finance category:

  • Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
  • Chichester District Council
  • East Riding of Yorkshire Council
  • Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
  • Sevenoaks District Council
  • Vale Royal Borough Council
  • Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council; were all nominated.

This year´s judging was slightly different to other years in that short listed authorities were invited to London to present their bid to the judging panel face to face a la Dragons Den. The panel consisted of Stephen Prince, Jaki Salibsury, Chief Executive of Mid Bedfordshire District Council and Richard Ennis, Executive Director of Corporate Resources at Ealing LBC.
