david_poynton_w400David Poynton, a significant figure in both the Health Finance and CIPFA circles, has become a Director of Public Sector Consultants.

“It is important for me as I change careers to join a company that shares my values and has a hallmark of quality…..Public Sector Consultants certainly does” said David. “I believe that the health service also wants these standards and I look forward to working with health and social care bodies to help them be fitter for the future”.

Public Sector Consultants is the leading supplier of professional support to local government finance departments and recently it commenced its seventh year of service delivery. It was placed 52nd in the 2005 Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 league table, being one of the country’s fastest growing companies. Whilst turnover in Y6 reached over £6m, the Company has been profitable since day one.

David’s career spans the NHS, the private sector and local government. He has been a Finance Director for Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust for the last 2½ years, and Finance Director and Acting Chief Executive of the Birmingham and Black Country SHA and the Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull NHS Trust prior to this. He was the Healthcare Director at Capita and, David was Chairman of PS Executive Consultancy Limited in the 5 years when it was a major player in the public sector market, in the 1990s.

David has been a Council member of CIPFA since 2002, a visiting Senior Fellow at the University of Birmingham since 1996, a Nominated Scrutineer of the Public Servants of the Year Award since 2001 and, he is a former Chairman of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

“Through the use of quality resources and our background of financial stability we have achieved much in a very short time. Now we are entering a medium term phase of development” Says Chief Executive Stephen Prince. “If we can extend our services in the health market to match those in local government, we will have a very strong base for both the medium and long term”.
